Summary

This grant opportunity provides funding for small capital projects and one-time investments across Alaska, supporting nonprofit organizations, Tribes, and state or local government entities actively serving Alaskans. The program is designed to help organizations enhance their capacity, improve infrastructure, and address community needs through tangible investments that create lasting benefits.

Applicants may use the funds for a variety of purposes, including construction or renovation projects, equipment and tool purchases, technology upgrades, historic preservation, library collections, office furnishings, playground and park improvements, and vehicles. The funding is intended to support initiatives that strengthen organizational operations, improve service delivery, and expand access to resources for Alaskan communities. Emphasis is placed on projects with a clear community impact, sustainable outcomes, and alignment with local or regional priorities.

Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations with at least one year of establishment and completed fiscal financials, as well as local and Tribal government entities. Faith-based organizations may be eligible if their project serves a broad community interest. Individuals are not eligible. Projects should demonstrate a strong Alaska-specific context and community benefit.

Grant amounts range from $5,000 to $35,000, with most awards falling between $5,000 and $20,000. Applications are accepted year-round, reviewed on a rolling basis, and decisions are typically communicated within 90 days. There is no matching requirement, although demonstrating additional local support or funding sources is encouraged. Projects must be completed and reported on before an organization may apply for a subsequent award, typically requiring a 12-month waiting period.

This opportunity is ideal for organizations seeking to make targeted investments in their facilities, operations, or programmatic capacity to better serve Alaskan communities, enhance organizational effectiveness, and achieve measurable community impact.
