Summary

A regional arts funding opportunity supports creative individuals and cultural organizations across several counties in northwestern Pennsylvania. The aim is to strengthen artistic talent and community-based projects in a way that enriches local culture and fosters equitable access to the arts. Funds are available to individual artists, creative entrepreneurs, grassroots cultural groups, and nonprofit institutions that operate within this region.

For individuals, this grant program offers several streams: unrestricted fellowships for artists at different professional levels, funds for timely artistic projects or professional development, and support for apprenticeships in traditional craft or folk arts. Artists can use the grant toward their ongoing creative work, training, career growth, or partnerships with master artists. In one program, small-business coaching is combined with grant funding to help creative entrepreneurs build their business and audience, reflecting a commitment to sustainable creative livelihoods.

On the organizational side, grants are offered to nonprofits and cultural groups to help them launch innovative, public-facing projects; to support arts education initiatives; or to stabilize and grow their operations. Some funds are flexible, allowing grantees to decide how best to use them—be it for capacity building, programming, or outreach. Special project grants prioritize new, risk-taking ideas that engage the community and align with equity-focused values.

Eligible applicants generally must be based in one of the specified counties in northwestern Pennsylvania. For individual awards, residency and a demonstrated creative practice are required; for organizations, nonprofit status (or use of a fiscal sponsor) is necessary. The amounts vary widely—from modest awards for short-term artist opportunities to larger sums for multi-year or high-impact organizational initiatives.

Applications are accepted on both annual and rolling cycles depending on the grant. The overall goal is to remove financial barriers for artists at all stages, as well as strengthen the region’s cultural infrastructure, so that creativity flourishes and meaningful community arts experiences thrive.
