Statewide Environmental Reimbursement Program
GrantID: 2079
Grant Funding Amount Low: $30,000
Deadline: Ongoing
Grant Amount High: $450,000
Summary
This opportunity offers financial support for environmental cleanup efforts within a single northwestern state, focusing mainly on communities working to address contamination on local properties. The program is designed to help public entities manage the costs of restoring areas affected by past industrial activities, aging infrastructure, or other environmental hazards. Funding is intended to relieve the financial pressure on local jurisdictions that take initiative to assess, plan, and complete cleanup work on their own. Although the support is structured, the overall approach remains flexible enough to accommodate a wide range of project types within the state’s boundaries.
The program provides reimbursement for cleanup-related activities, with amounts that may reach up to about three hundred thousand dollars for most applicants, and in some cases up to four hundred fifty thousand dollars for applicants that can demonstrate limited financial resources. These funds may be used for planning studies, investigation work, cleanup design, implementation of cleanup remedies, or short-term monitoring once work is completed. The intent is to encourage local progress toward healthier land, safer community spaces, and long-term environmental recovery.
Eligibility is limited to government-type entities such as municipalities, counties, and similar public organizations. Nonprofits, small businesses, and individuals are not eligible for this particular opportunity. Applicants must have completed their cleanup through a voluntary or independent pathway and must show that the work meets environmental review standards established by the state. Only projects located within the state are eligible to receive reimbursement.
The program is offered on a recurring two-year cycle, providing regular opportunities for communities to apply. Benefits include cost recovery for recently completed cleanup actions, increased capacity for environmental stewardship, and support for transforming formerly contaminated properties into safer and more productive community assets. The opportunity generally serves regions throughout the state, especially where local governments are proactively addressing environmental concerns.
