Summary

A grant opportunity is available to support locally rooted small businesses that serve as cornerstones in their communities. This initiative is particularly relevant for those operating in historic downtown areas or culturally significant commercial corridors, with a special focus on regions across the United States. The program is structured to uplift independent business owners who demonstrate a strong connection to their neighborhood and are committed to long-term community engagement.

Grants begin with a $10,000 award intended to help small businesses with key enhancements. This may include efforts to make a space more accessible, expand marketing strategies, acquire essential inventory or equipment, or implement sustainability upgrades. Additional uses may involve hosting events, refining business operations, or improving technology and e-commerce presence. The intent of these funds is to improve both the economic viability of the businesses and the liveliness of the surrounding community.

From those who receive the initial funding, a smaller group may later be eligible for an additional $30,000 to support more transformational projects. These projects typically aim to increase community access, preserve local character, support cultural heritage, or provide inclusive economic opportunities. This additional funding is reserved for those who demonstrate successful use of their initial grant and propose high-impact plans.

The opportunity is open to eligible small business owners aged 18 or older who operate from a brick-and-mortar location within designated main street or historic commercial areas. Businesses must be independent, have fewer than 20 full-time employees, and show a record of active, compliant operations. This grant is not for franchises or home-based enterprises.

This annual funding opportunity is a meaningful way to invest in local economies, helping to ensure that small businesses can continue to thrive while strengthening the places people call home.
