Summary

This grant opportunity supports efforts to strengthen and expand early childhood education and care services in selected regions of the United States. It is designed to help increase access to high‑quality early learning programs for young children, particularly in underserved, low‑income communities where there is a shortage of child care options. The funding is intended to assist providers in stabilizing operations, improving program quality, and building capacity so they can serve more families and sustain their work over the long term.

Funding is generally available to licensed early childhood education providers, which may include home‑based caregivers and center‑based programs that are actively serving children. These grants may be coupled with technical assistance, business coaching, and planning support to help providers strengthen their business practices, enhance program quality, and improve sustainability.

The grants focus on supporting a range of activities, such as improving learning environments, investing in professional development, acquiring materials and equipment, and implementing strategies to increase enrollment and affordability for families. Some awards may also support planning and expansion projects that help providers grow the number of quality care seats available in communities with high demand.

Although the opportunity primarily targets nonprofit and for‑profit early childhood education providers, it does not typically provide funding directly to individuals or small businesses outside of the child care sector. Eligibility often depends on meeting licensing requirements and demonstrating a commitment to serving young children and families in designated regions. Grants may be offered on an annual or recurring cycle, with specific application periods and review processes. The overall intent is to expand access, enhance program stability, and improve quality across early learning systems so that more children have access to enriching early education experiences that support their development and future success.
