Summary

Provides several types of grants aimed at strengthening nonprofit organizations. These grants are specifically designed for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations (or those using a fiscal sponsor) — not for individuals or businesses.

One major opportunity offers flexible general operating grants to nonprofits that provide essential services, such as food, housing, health care, childcare, mental health support, and more. The intent is to stabilize organizations that are facing steep funding cuts, helping ensure that vital social safety-net services remain available. Grant awards in this stream range from $50,000 to $150,000, depending on the applicant’s annual operating budget. To be eligible, nonprofits must have been established in the county for at least a year, and must show that their funding has suffered in the current or upcoming funding cycles.

Beyond urgent support, there are longer-term grant programs. Its general grant program supports nonprofits in priority areas such as arts and culture, environment, health, human services, and serving seniors or people with disabilities. These are competitive grants evaluated by a review committee, and funding is shaped by both community data and the foundation’s strategic priorities.

There is also a special grant program for smaller nonprofits (those with an operating budget under $300,000) that need help building capacity: this could be for staff or board training, improving communications, investing in basic infrastructure (like furniture or technology), or strengthening fundraising.

In addition, there’s a fund that supports LGBTQ+ programs (with awards around $5,000–$10,000) and other funds focused on women, girls, youth, the environment, or community development.

When nonprofits receive grants, they may also be offered capacity-building resources beyond money: coaching, peer learning, planning tools, and more, all aimed at building resilience and long-term sustainability.
