It is designed to enhance the quality of life in the region by funding programs and capacity-building initiatives in areas such as arts and culture, basic needs, education, environmental conservation, health and wellness, services for older adults, human services, youth development, and community improvement.

Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and government bodies, such as school districts or municipalities, that serve residents in the designated three-county region. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to operating without discrimination based on race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or national origin.

The grant offers several funding streams, each with its own focus and award range. The general grants program provides awards of up to approximately $20,000 for projects and program support. Capacity-building grants, designed to help organizations strengthen their leadership, governance, technology, or strategic planning, typically range from $1,000 to $7,500 for one-year projects. A specialized funding stream aimed at economic stability and poverty-reduction efforts offers awards of up to around $225,000 over a three-year period to support programs that address long-term systemic challenges.

Funds may be used for project implementation, program expansion, staff or board training, technology and equipment necessary to achieve program goals, and other eligible activities that align with the objectives of the selected grant stream. Funding is not available for individual scholarships, endowment creation, debt reduction, capital campaigns, or lobbying activities.

This opportunity is intended to empower organizations working to strengthen communities throughout Northeast Wisconsin. By providing flexible funding for both programmatic and organizational development, the grant encourages innovation, collaboration, and measurable community impact that supports lasting positive change in the region.
