Grant for Supporting High School Seniors and College Students
GrantID: 67971
Grant Funding Amount Low: Open
Deadline: Ongoing
Grant Amount High: Open
Summary
This opportunity provides one-year support for full-time students originating from or having graduated high school in certain Ohio counties. Recipients must enroll in accredited colleges, universities, trade or technical schools throughout the country. The intent is to ease the financial burden of post-secondary education for deserving students who face economic barriers.
Applicants are required to demonstrate both academic promise and financial need. For new high school applicants, minimum GPA thresholds, standardized test scores (ACT or SAT), and class standing are considered. For those already in college or seeking renewals, maintaining a cumulative GPA is essential. Submission of federal student aid documentation is a core requirement. Recipients must reapply annually; the grant does not renew automatically.
Award amounts are determined individually by a governing board, with past grants falling roughly between $1,000 and $7,500. The total depends on a student’s educational costs, other aid, and financial resources. Funds are directed to the institution—not to the individual—and may cover tuition, fees, and on-campus housing, and sometimes books when billed through the institution.
Applications are accepted during a defined window each year—typically starting in December and closing in mid-March. Award decisions are made in the spring, with notifications generally occurring by early summer. The program is offered annually, and every academic year constitutes a discrete funding cycle.
This grant is specifically available to individuals meeting the residency or schooling criteria in the designated Ohio counties, but those awarded may attend schools elsewhere. It is not open to nonprofits or businesses. Rather, it is focused on enabling students who might otherwise struggle to pursue full-time higher education.
