Summary

Funding to improve community health—physical, mental, emotional—and wellness by supporting nonprofits, schools, public entities, and municipalities.Organizations that can apply include registered 501(c)(3) nonprofits, local government bodies, or publicly‑funded educational institutions, as long as their work is carried out in the foundation’s service area. Individuals are not the main recipients (except via scholarships).

Grant opportunities vary by program. For example, there has been a “Volunteer Emergency Services” grant round, a “Safe & Healthful Communities / Recreation Facilities” call for proposals, and ones addressing behavioral health and substance use. Grant amounts depend on the program—some rounds allow up to $25,000 per grant, with a total pool of funding around $100,000 in certain RFPs. There seems to be no firm minimum in some cases, although smaller requests tend to match to smaller programs.

Funds are meant for things like improving recreational facilities, capital improvements for built environment (buildings, trails, equipment), supporting emergency volunteer services, behavioral health and substance use/suicide prevention work, outreach & education, meal programs, victim support, etc. They look for projects that align with the foundation’s mission, that are sustainable (long‐term impact, community benefit), that address gaps, and that offer equitable inclusion (accessible design, broad community reach).

The process can include submitting a Letter of Inquiry first (though not always required), followed by a full proposal in response to a Request for Proposal. Applicants need to provide documentation (tax status, financials, budgets, evidence of capacity), show alignment with the foundation’s priorities and show how the project will deliver measurable impact.

This opportunity is well‑suited for nonprofit or public organizations  with concrete ideas to strengthen community health, services, infrastructure, or wellness.
