Summary

This grant opportunity focuses on supporting projects which improve the lives of children and youth up to about age 21 across all provinces and territories. Funding is available only to registered charities, qualified nonprofit organizations, schools, and eligible community groups that operate within Canada; individuals and for-profit businesses are not eligible to apply. The grants are intended to strengthen community capacity, enhance educational and health outcomes, and support a wide range of programs that enrich young people’s experiences and wellbeing.


There are several types of awards available each year, with project grants generally ranging up to $25,000 to help organizations create or expand services, purchase equipment, or launch new initiatives. In addition, there are larger Signature Grants valued at $50,000, which may be awarded to national organizations with broad reach, and a dedicated Grant of $50,000 that supports Indigenous-led programming rooted in reconciliation principles and education.


Projects that receive funding typically focus on areas such as community engagement, inclusive education, arts and culture, physical activity and health, literacy and language development, youth outreach, and other activities that benefit children and youth, especially those from vulnerable or underserved communities. The grants are competitive and reviewed annually, with decisions communicated during a summer or early fall period, aligning with the seasonal application cycle that generally opens in early February and closes later that month.
