Summary

Grants designed to help small, locally owned establishments recover from damage to storefront windows caused by vandalism or break-ins. The program focuses on strengthening neighborhood business corridors, improving public safety, and supporting economic stability. By easing the financial burden of unexpected repairs, the initiative aims to help businesses reopen quickly, maintain welcoming storefronts, and continue serving their communities without prolonged disruption.

Eligible applicants generally include brick-and-mortar small businesses operating within the city limits, as well as qualifying nonprofit organizations and certain educational institutions with a physical presence in the area. The program is not intended for large corporations or individuals without an established storefront. Applicants must document the damage and provide proof of repair expenses. Participation in a local safety or crime-prevention initiative may also be required as part of eligibility. Funding is typically limited to incidents occurring within a defined timeframe prior to application.

The grant is structured as a reimbursement program, covering a significant portion of eligible repair or replacement costs. Awards may provide up to several thousand dollars per incident, helping offset expenses such as glass replacement, labor, and related materials. In some cases, an additional modest incentive may be available for incorporating enhanced security features or energy-efficient window upgrades.

Funds are available on a rolling basis until the allocated budget is exhausted, and priority may be given to businesses located in economically distressed areas. Overall, the program is intended to promote resilience among small enterprises, reduce the long-term impact of property crime, and foster safer, more vibrant commercial districts.
