Summary

Grant Program to help businesses and property owners invest in visible exterior improvements to their buildings and outdoor spaces. The goal is to strengthen the appeal and vitality, support neighborhood reinvestment, and enhance the experience for residents, visitors, and customers.

The program provides matching grants that help pay for improvements that are visible from the street, such as updated facades, signage, landscaping and planters, outdoor dining or café upgrades, lighting, and artistic enhancements. Applicants work with the city to define the scope of improvements and then receive funding based on a percentage match of their investment. The matching structure encourages owners to put their

own resources into the upgrades while reducing the financial burden of the project.

Grant awards can range from about $10,000 up to $25,000, depending on the project size and eligible costs. To participate, businesses and property owners must be in good standing with city requirements, and the improvements must be completed within a set timeframe after the grant is approved. The funds are typically distributed after the work is finished and verified, encouraging high‑quality and effective enhancements.

This program is geared toward established, location‑specific businesses and property owners in the targeted Atlantic Avenue area rather than nonprofits or individuals outside that zone. It helps create a more inviting business environment, supports economic activity, and contributes to broader community revitalization goals by making visible investments in storefronts and public‑facing spaces.
